I normally run alone because i run in semi-fast speed. If i have a partner who does not match my speed, its irritating. I don't have a problem to run with someone who runs faster than me, as it poses a challenge to me to run faster than him.

I used to workout in the Gym for past couple of years. Then i heard about RFL and joined it 4 months ago. Have done 20k once. I usually run on the outer Ring Road once a week. I know thats not enough for my goal of completing a Full Marathon this year. Suggestions would be welcome about training for Full Marathon. Diet, workout, tapering off etc. I have been following other discussion links.

Some ten years ago i started running along with my friends. i could not do half a km then. gradually we could manage to do 3 km. Then the fellow runners gradually stopped running as they found it boring. i none the less continued alone and liked it as i had more time with myself. I liked being alone with myself, talking to myself , pushing against the barrier always. Running keeps me focussed and motivated. I feel super confident whenever i complete a run.

Having played mainly team games all my younger days, the barriers to running alone was humongous - but I am hanging on a while being a lone ranger . Currently self motivated to run alone, hope to stay that way! Even a fall on Bannerghatta Road couple of weeks before the 10K didn't stop me being a lone ranger!

Okay! Folks.....Here is a song dedicated to all the "LONE RANGERS".....The song is a famous one, but I have edited only li'l bit to suit our passion.........Sing and Have Fun..... :-)

I run a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I run alone
I run this empty street
On the Boulevard of my own Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I run alone
I run alone
I run alone
I run alone
I run a...
My shadow's the only one that runs beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I run alone
I'm running down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I run alone
Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I run alone
I run alone
I run alone
I run alone
I run a...

For me, one of the reasons to run is to give sometime to myself - Be me, Think of myself, Talk to myself. So, running alone is gives all the privacy I need from phone calls, emails and any conversations by people around. Right Ashok, I also do not feel that people who run alone are anti-social :-), it is just that it has its own fun...and the serenity...and the soothing Mental calmness.......
