Runners For Life

I ran with the group for the first time last Sunday at Embassy Golf links. I was wondering id it would be possible to have an additional water point at the 2km mark. I did not run the 10 K as We were told that there was water only at the 5K point. This is a little too far for runners such as myself to go without water. There were others who expressed a similar opinion.

Yes, I also felt 5K was too far out for the first water point. I usually carry water along with me for runs longer than 5K, but was expecting at least a 2K water points for the RFL runs. But in the end it didn't really affect my run(was it really 5.2K ? it looked really easy - may be it was my 2-1m run walk :)

We can keep water points every 2kms. That shouldn't be a problem. But we would be spoiling you. If you are keen on taking part in more running events, you wouldn't find water stops at 2km intervals. World 10K being an exception (it is the only 10K run in the country), most events have water points every 5-6kms. So after training with 2kms water stops it becomes difficult to adjust. The body adjusts the way you train it. Having said that if runners really feel the need for more water stops we will have them.

Also, it is a question of how well hydrated you are. The process of keeping yourself hydrated holds good at all times and not just while you are running. In specific if you are not well hydrated before the start of a run, you will feel thirsty sooner.
